  • Mon & Wed 10 AM slots built around homeschool schedules — not carved out of after-school
  • Combined-age sessions (3–13) so siblings train side-by-side in one trip
  • Structured Gracie Barra curriculum with belts and stripes — real milestones, not participation
  • Counts toward Texas homeschool PE — a proper physical-education program, not a YouTube workout
  • Black-belt-led every class (Professor Edgar, 15 yrs under Master 'Tussa' Alencar)
  • One block off FM 1103 in Cibolo Valley Square — free plaza parking, H-E-B across the lot

Why Cibolo Homeschool Parents Choose Us

Morning Schedule, On Purpose

Most BJJ gyms open at 4 PM. We run dedicated 10 AM classes on Monday and Wednesday because Cibolo homeschool families kept asking — and most of you were already driving into San Antonio to find one.

Siblings Train Together

Tiny Champions (3–4), Little Champions I & II (5–9), and Juniors (10–13) share the homeschool mat. One drop-off, one pickup, one session — and older kids naturally mentor the younger ones.

Counts as PE

Belts, stripes, and a 16-week curriculum block. Parents use the Gracie Barra lesson plan as a physical-education log — the same structure traditional-school kids get, just on your schedule.

Black Belt Instruction

Professor Edgar is a 1st-degree black belt under Master Roberto 'Tussa' Alencar with 15 years of mat time. Every class — including homeschool mornings — is led by him. No colored belts covering a shift.

Homeschool BJJ Questions

Does Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu count for homeschool PE in Texas?
Yes. Texas homeschool law treats parents as the attendance and curriculum authority, so a structured martial-arts program with a documented curriculum, belt rank, and coach-verified attendance works as physical education. The Gracie Barra curriculum gives you a 16-week block plan, belts, and stripes — an easy fit for a homeschool PE log.
What ages can train in the Monday and Wednesday 10 AM classes?
Ages 3 through 13. Tiny Champions (3–4), Little Champions I and II (5–9), and Juniors (10–13) all share the homeschool mat so siblings can train in the same session. Professor Edgar structures the class so every age group gets drill time at their level.
Is Jiu-Jitsu safe for a 4-year-old?
Yes — especially Jiu-Jitsu, because there's no striking. Tiny Champions focuses on motor skills, listening, partner coordination, and basic positions. The curriculum is GB-certified and taught by a black belt. Our risk profile is much lower than gymnastics, soccer, or a neighborhood trampoline park.
Do we need a gi (uniform) for the first class?
No. Come in comfortable athletic clothes for the free trial. If you decide to keep training, we'll get you into a GB kids gi — or an adult gi for parents who want to jump in too.
Can I watch the class?
Always. Parents are welcome to sit mat-side for every session. Many homeschool parents use the class time as a break; others bring a laptop and co-work. We'll never make you feel pushed to leave.
What if my kids are different ages — can they still be in the same class?
Yes, that's exactly what the homeschool mornings are designed for. The 10 AM Mon/Wed classes run as a combined-age session specifically so a 5-year-old and a 10-year-old can train together. Professor Edgar splits the mat into skill stations so both get the right challenge.
Do you offer a homeschool discount or family pricing?
Ask at your trial. We work with homeschool families on sibling rates and multi-month structures — just tell Professor Edgar how many kids and which months you're planning, and we'll build something that fits.
